It's been pretty hot on youtube so you probably know what I'm talking about - last week CNN "hologrammed" various personalities into the studios in a "television first" that saw star trek fans masturbating furiously at this new hologram technology. Well here's "news" - it's FAKE. The reporters couldn't be seen in the studio at all - it was advanced cgi at best.

That "hologram" cannot be seen by anybody in the studio - it's simply the reporter being editing into the shot via the magic of green-screen, which has been used in television for years. The only "new" technology with this stunt, was that there were 40 HD cameras filming the reporter in the green room (all 4 walls, the cieling and the floor were green) from all angles, and as the in-studio cameras moved around, their positions in the studio were relayed back to the green room. Then, depending on the position of the in-studio cameras, the image of the reporter would be constructed via a number of the 40 HD cameras in a way that would mimick the angle the studio cameras would be filming the reporter at. This image of the report would then be placed into the shot live, giving the illusion to the viewer that the person being filmed was, indeed in the studio.

The word "hologram" is defined in the Oxford English Dictionary as: "a three-dimensional image formed by the interference of light beams from a laser or other coherent light source". There wasn't a 3d image formed at all in this CNN hologram hoax - the image was simply relayed live into the shot as described above and was therefore nothing more than an advanced computer generated image. CNN are liars.
