Molly is a bearded collie. She is rather old. Molly seems to have established a hierarchical chain of supremacy, which as far as I can see goes: white human > dog > black human, which I find hilarious! Seeing her resentment towards black and Asian people makes me wonder if dogs are aware of race as they are species...

Molly the racist dogSo dogs can differentiate between a fellow dog, a human, or a cat; but how do they see black and white people? Do they see black and white people as two separate species? If I'm walking Molly somewhere she'll show the usual signs of curiosity towards other dogs, and people (white) but when it comes to black people, Molly will refuse to walk around them, forcing them to walk around her. She'll also stop and watch them walk off after they have passed, as if she's in awe at what she's just witnessed! Why!?

When I was a kid, apparently I asked my mum "why is that man covered in chocolate?" when I saw a black guy in my local high street, and I wonder how similar this is to what goes through Molly's head - does she think black people are regular people, only with chocolate on top? I wish I could get inside her head, I really do!

Whether Molly see's me fully clothed or in a ball on the floor in my boxers, there is a consistency in her response to me that shows she see's "Ross" rather than my physical presence, as is to be expected. When she see's anybody new, provided they are white, there is again this consistency that makes it clear Molly is seeing a white person and that's as far as her thinking goes. Now what I suspect is: if a random white person came into Joe's house (it's his pooch) dressed in something completely bizarre, unlike anything Molly would have seen another white person dressed in and provided the white face was identifiable, Molly would react as she would to any other white person. So why then, if a black person was to present himself to her would she be like WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK IS THAT!?

If her reaction was based on superficialities: "yo, you're skin ain't the same as the people's that feed me" then surely the above mentioned white person in bizarre clothing would also get the same reaction? You're probably thinking - TEST IT; well... I have. Some boy/girl hybrid thing came to see Molly dressed in a rather "OH SWEET JESUS" style get-up and sure enough she reacted as if it were another regular white person. I also tried wearing a monkey mask (for no reason other than there was a black monkey mask or a white cat mask available) and she had no idea I was in the house; I also had my skin covered up as best I could, but not fully - sure enough Molly was like "Oh hey, watsup man? You good?" as if nothing unusual was going on.

Confusing... Does this mean black people and white people have different auras or something? I simply do not understand where the differentiation comes from... Could it be musk? Who knows...

*Contrary to what this article may suggest, I'm not in the least bit racist. I'm half and half myself you know... not that that justifies anything, but my point is, nothing in the above article was written with any malice or intent beyond expressing my muse in regards to the brain of the Mollydog.
