I'm Ross Fretten. I'm 5'11, 140lbs, from Essex, England. I've kind of done a bit of everything in my short life, from the boring; school, working in Tesco's and all that, to the rather more exciting: snowboarding, driving through shop windows in vans, karting all over the UK at speeds touching 90mph, escorting a US Army HMMWV through some streets with a big arse gun, destroying evil robots whilst dressed in a lycra cat suit on MTV, abseiling down canyons in Australia (extra fun when you're scared to death of heights!) and pretty much whatever else I can do that involves stupid amounts of adrenaline! I was going down the educational route as I always found school pretty easy to get decent grades and I fancied a successful career and plenty of money just like everyone else, but then I realised that's really not me, and being true to yourself is all that matters. Ultimately I don't think anyone can be happy if they try to shoe-horn themselves into a template-life with deluded desires of pride and wealth, so for better or worse, I'm building my life around me and just take each day, day by day. I see the going-ons of the physical world as petty and unimportant, but despite this I am aware I am a part of it, and therefore petty and unimportant. I have a huge thirst for knowledge and I am passionate about anything that can bridge the gap between the spiritual and physical. I love dogs. I love movies - comedies kick arse; I love Will Ferrel and Ben Stiller! I like "real" movies too; From Hell, Secret Window, American Beauty, One Hour Photo and Butterfly Effect are all amazing. I don't watch much TV, although I do love some shows - Peep Show, Arrested Development, and Curb Your Enthusiasm are some of my favourite shows, but I can't be arsed to sit through hours of shit and adverts to get to half an hour of magic. I'm more of a thinker - I'm hugely interested in consciousness and reality and the human mind - how does our brain work, why does it work like that, and how can we manipulate it? What defines reality, how can it be measured, foreseen and manipulated? Other things I like come in the form of Guitar Hero, my iPhone, 1880's London clothes movies, playing guitar, writing, and spending time with amazing people. |
